About the event
Spend a summer evening paddling around Milwaukee’s Lakeshore State Park accompanied by painting with watercolors led by local artist Francheska Gomez of Karaya Art. Join one of two 45-minute art sessions at either 5pm or 6pm. Includes a 90-minute kayak rental either before or after painting. Explore the serene lagoon with the downtown skyline in the background, or if your paddling skills or conditions allow you can venture into the protected breakwater to paddle along the Lake Michigan coastline and see sites like the Milwaukee Art Museum or Veterans Park from the water.
Available kayaks include single sit-on tops (default), sit ins, tandems, foldable and inflatable.
Includes: Kayak, life jacket, paddle, watercolor painting session led by artist, light snacks, and filtered water for refilling bottles. Date: Thursday, July 25. Painting sessions at 5pm or 6pm, self-guided kayaking before or after your session. Ability Level: Easy Gear To Bring: Appropriate clothing for the weather, shoes/clothing that can get wet, extra dry clothes, towel, sunscreen, water bottle. Cost: $49 + taxes/fees. Meeting Location: Lakeshore State Park Beach, 500 N Harbor Dr, Milwaukee. You can park either on the street in front of Discovery World or in one of the parking ramps at Discovery, the Art Museum or across the street. It is about an 8-10 minute walk from Discovery World out to the beach in the middle of the island at Lakeshore State Park.
